January 5th was the first day I went running. I had to take breaks on my short route, I was coughing up a ton of black shit (I smoke, not cigarettes), and generally couldn't keep up with my own low expectations.
I'm hoping that by making this attempt somewhat public I'll be more encouraged to keep it up. That said, I am not telling anyone I know about this. It is fucking embarrassing. Not just that I'm out of shape, but that I'm blogging about it.
So here's the general routine: I try to get up and go jogging first thing in the morning on weekdays, sometimes on weekends as well if it fits or if I skipped a day during the week. Sometimes I'm doing it at 7:00, sometimes 11:30. I don't really have a job, that's another story. The route I jog is maybe a mile or so with some slight uphill portions. I'm hoping to expand it as it gets easier.
I also just started logging progress on the site hundredpushups.com. I did the initial test and managed 25 pushups before I couldn't do any more. I'm hoping to get up to the point that I can do 100 in one sitting. If I can get to that my next goal would be 20 dead hang pull ups. There's no website for that, maybe I could start it.
Now it's time to figure out how to put up the pictures I took.....
